First Encampment Celebration/Festival – 2017

July 22 @ 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM

$1.00 - $3.00

20th Annual First Encampment Celebration and Festival

Come have breakfast and meet your neighbors!

On the afternoon of July 22, 1847, the main body of the first party of Mormon Pioneers, who were the settlers of the Salt Lake Valley, came through Emigration canyon and spent the night in the area of the First Encampment Park. The remainder of the group entered the valley on July 24th. Thus later celebrated as “Pioneer Day.” In 1997, 150 years later, community volunteers built First Encampment Park to honor those who first camped here. If you look around the park you will see those pioneer names engraved on the stones.
For ADA accommodations contact Valerie Vaughn at 801.891.6694, a passenger loading zone is available at the corner of Blaine Ave and 500 East.
